$10,000 and Championship Trophy Awarded for Building Exceptional Pioneer Demo Vehicle!

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. announced The Specialist as the winner of the 2009 Pioneer Sound Build-Off competition for having built the best demo/competition vehicle, honored at the company’s annual Mobile Entertainment Road Show event held in Long Beach, Calif., on Saturday, June 13, 2009.  The Specialist prevailed over nine other reputable Pioneer Premier retailers around the country to bring home the grand prize and the title of 2009 Pioneer Sound Build Off champion.

“The 2009 Pioneer Sound Build-Off generated a lot of excitement but at its core, this event focuses on showcasing the importance of sound quality while also celebrating the installation capabilities of our dealers,” said Ted Cardenas, director of marketing for the mobile business group of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Every year we’re amazed at the level of creativity that is displayed with each vehicle and because of the participants’ inventiveness our event continues to be successful.”

Each participant was given approximately eight weeks to build their vehicle around a set package of Pioneer Premier branded products before being judged at the Mobile Entertainment Road Show.  The products participants received showcase the features that consumers demand most frequently during their commutes, including Bluetooth and iPod®/iPhone® control.  The vehicles were evaluated and scored by two official sound quality and installation judges using current International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) rules.  In addition, attendees were asked to vote for their favorite vehicle, which accounted for a portion of the participants overall score.

After a day of evaluation, the 2007 Honda Civic by The Specialist was declared the winner and awarded a $10,000 check plus the Pioneer Sound Build-Off championship trophy.   The 1971 Karman Ghia by Sound Waves Inc. came in second place.  And for the first time, there was a tie for third place between the 2007 Scion TC by Car Tunes and the 2008 Honda Accord by Paradyme.

Each participating retailer received and installed the following Pioneer Premier products:
•    DEH-P710BT (one) - single CD receiver with Full Motion OEL Display, built-in Bluetooth and USB Direct Control for iPod
•    PRS-D2200T (four) - 2-channel full-range Class FD amplifier with ICEpower® technology
