According to the McGraw-Hill Dictionary of American Idioms and Phrasal Verbs, the saying “sound like a broken record” is defined as “to say the same thing over and over again…(as in a) scratch in a phonograph record causing the needle to stay in the same groove and play it over and over…” We here at Hybrid Audio Technologies believe we must sound like a broken record, because we say the same thing over and over again: cars equipped with Hybrid Audio Technologies products continue to dominate organized sound quality competition. More specifically, for four years now – since the inception of Hybrid Audio Technologies in 2005 – cars equipped with Hybrid Audio Technologies products have won more sound quality championships and sound quality bests of show than any other manufacturer.
With the 2009 season coming to a close, there was one last opportunity to show Hybrid Audio Technologies’ pre-eminence as the high-end speaker brand of choice. The International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) “Western Finals” event was held at Audio Shoppe in Riverside, California on Saturday, October 24, 2009. The event was officiated by IASCA’s most-qualified, independent judges from the west coast. A survey of the cars being competed revealed that every notable high-end brand of car audio speaker was represented of the seventeen that were to compete in the SCQ class; many of these cars boasted professional-built custom installations, dashboard reconstructions, and etc. The SQC class is a class for sound-only judging, and does not include scoring for installation, real time analysis, or sound pressure level. In this “sound-only” class, there can be only one winner, and that was Jim Becker of Torrance California, in his “Big Red” Ford F250 truck. Becker’s truck is outfitted with a Hybrid Audio Technologies Legatia L831-3 component system; no competing brands are represented in Becker’s truck. Jim won the sound-only class with a staggering score of 249 points out of a possible 275. Becker also won his normal sound and installation class in the Amateur division.
Hybrid Audio Technologies would like to highlight several key facts about Becker’s win:
• Jim Becker competed in seven shows this year, and was undefeated. At several shows there were 20+ competitors in the sound-only class, and Becker won every single time;
“Once again, it’s good to see that folks who use the Hybrid Audio Technologies products are winning on the merit of their sound quality, without fancy or advanced installation techniques or pro-built installs” exclaimed Scott E. Buwalda, CEO of Hybrid Audio Technologies. “Jim’s win backs up many more than came before him, establishing Hybrid Audio Technologies as the speaker brand of choice for competitors, enthusiasts, and retail shops.”
“2009 was a pretty decisive year for Hybrid Audio Technologies competition program” remarked Bill Pleasant, Team Hybrids Coordinator. “Hybrid Audio Technologies products were used in the best sounding cars at the IASCA North American Championships, key classes at the IASCA Championships, the Western Canadian IASCA Championships, the Eastern Canadian IASCA Championships, the highest class in MECA’s Sound Quality League, key classes at the MECA and USACi World Finals events, and now in California at the IASCA Western Championships. The best-sounding cars in North America use Hybrid Audio Technologies products!”
