Atlanta, GA – Hybrid Audio Technologies Founder and CEO Scott Buwalda is honored by the International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) for posting the highest combined sound quality and installation (SQi) score ever recorded in organized Sound Quality competition.

Hybrid Audio Technologies was officially formed in July 2005, but Scott Buwalda, the Founder and CEO of Hybrid Audio Technologies, has been involved in the 12-volt industry since 1987.  At the tender age of 17, Buwalda began building his first car audio project with the sole intention of entering it in local car audio sound quality competitions.  His first event was in 1988; a Car Audio Nationals (CAN) event in Jupiter Florida, where Buwalda got fourth place, forever linking Buwalda to good sound quality and organized competition.

Fast forward twenty three years to the IASCA North American Championships, held in Daytona Beach Florida the weekend of March 13-14, 2010.  Buwalda’s last showing as a competitor was in 2004, where he won the Expert Unlimited category (his third such championship in the Expert Division).  It was at this same show that Buwalda decided to begin designing and building his own line of high-performance speakers under the name brand “Hybrid Audio Technologies.”  And now, shaking off six years of his own personal competition hiatus spent building Hybrid Audio into one of the most formidable high-end car audio speaker manufacturers in the world, Buwalda returned yet again to his roots, the competition lanes.  Buwalda debuted a 7-year, 10,000+ man-hour project car, a jet black Nissan Silvia Spec, GT-R, outfitted of course with Hybrid Audio Technologies Legatia-branded product; a project that Buwalda was the lead installer and the one responsible for posting more than 70% of the recorded man-hours.  When the dust settled, Buwalda had won the Expert Ultimate division, the 12-volt industry’s most advanced sound quality and installation judging category, with the highest score ever recorded in any sound quality competition, irrespective of format or sanctioning organization.

To commemorate the occasion, IASCA formally congratulated Buwalda in a letter from Paul Papadeas, CEO of IASCA Worldwide, Inc.  In this letter, Papadeas writes “as you know, IASCA was founded in 1989 years.  During that tenure IASCA has judged thousands of extremely high-end mobile audio systems.  Your history of victories in sound quality competition is outstanding and I wish to congratulate you on those and especially for your most recent achievement.  Your score of 920.5 points achieved at the INAC Finals is by far the highest combined SQi score ever recorded in IASCA’s 21-year history, both domestically and internationally, and represents a significant milestone in the history of organized car audio sound quality competition.”  Papadeas went on to say “…I see you as a true champion in your field; dedicated and innovative.  I will also comment that it is most apparent that you have taken this posture in forming your company Hybrid Audio Technologies.  It is this type of commitment to excellence that sets an example that our industry should recognize.

The results from the INAC Finals were made even sweeter with key victories by Hybrid Audio-equipped vehicles in virtually every sound quality class, including three classes dominated with a “one-two” sweep of Hybrid-equipped vehicles.  For the third year in a row, Hybrid Audio Technologies-equipped vehicles have won more IASCA North American Championships than all other front-stage speaker manufacturers combined.

Hybrid Audio Technologies is an Atlanta, GA-based high-performance speaker manufacturer solely owned by Scott Buwalda, car audio competitor, enthusiast, music lover and musician, and speaker engineer.  To speak to Scott, or to get more information about Hybrid Audio Technologies products, or to become a dealer, please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
