As news of the shop grew so did its staff including its first big jump in Feb 2003 with the addition of 2 installers and a shop helper. Show after show the Auto Sound vehicles took 1st and 2nd place in sound quality as well as design. By 2004 the shop was being put to the test with the high demand from customers growing and the shop getting smaller and smaller with the number of projects being worked on from video, iPod Integration, security, navigation and rims and tires growing. Through this, custom car audio never left its place as the stores core competency.
The staff grew again to 3 full time and 1part time installers, 1 full time sales manager, 1 part time office manager plus the store owner Kenny McCardie working 6 days a week overseeing all operations. Auto Sound became the favorite place for multiple car clubs, car dealers, sports figures, local Disc Jockeys and many others while Kenny and crew worked hard to ensure each and everyone person was treated fairly and always exceeding each customer’s expectations. Sound quality and budget as well as the look is always a main objective that has been consistently met with every install. Diamond Certified approached the shop late in 2004 and was the first and to this date the only shop in the area to ever meet the criteria to become certified with a customer approval rating of over 95%.
The store has never lost focus that customer service had to be first with every project ensuring the customer is always treated fairly and spend the time to ensure they are providing the customer with what they want. As 2006 came the store had run into room issue, packing the cars in and having the now team of 4 installers working in close quarters. Late 2006 Auto Sound took a big leap of faith and moved its successful thriving store to a 7,500 Sq. Ft building in Union City, California formerly under another shops name and merged the two together.
Auto Sound had a new home with a lot of room and a vision. The store was quickly gutted and completely rebuilt from the ground up with a showroom that shined and an installation bay that welcomed every vehicle from Bentley to bucket, from mobile home to motorcycle. The shelves were stacked with Arc Audio, JL Audio, MTX, AVI, Viper, Clifford, DLS, Rosen, Vizualogic, Compustar, Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer and more. The new location has been a hit with new and old customers and the staff couldn’t be any happier. An addition of 1 part-time sales person was added and a full time window tint technician. Yes you read right, the Bay Area’s Biggest Custom Car Audio Shop has also merged with Westint Motorsport, one of the bay areas oldest and successful window tint shops.
Westint now falls under Auto Sound Specialists to bring top quality window tinting under the same roof. 2007 was found to be a fun year concentrating on custom builds, daily installs, rims & timers, window tint and anything else the customers requested. Auto Sound has opened a Classic Car restoration department as well as on site detailing, they also partner with a couple of body shops and upholstery shops if the job requires more than what they can handle on site. The One Stop Shop is truly in full flow @ Auto Sound. A team with its full focus on the "Customer First" attitude has been the signature of the shop with builds for Oakland Raiders, SF 49ers and the Golden State Warriors. Auto Sound has built cars for the Consumer Electronics Show also known as CES and SEMA. Now in early 2009 the store has designed built cars for Northern California ’s AutoRama & San Francisco’s Rod and Custom Show, again taking home multiple trophies. One of there latest projects was building a car for MTX and the Discovery Channel's Myth Busters.
